Constellation Cone
from Spider: September 2008
Click here to print a Constellation Cone of Capricorn, Aquila, and Cygnus, then follow the directions below.
What You'll Need:
scissors
pencil
paper clip
flashlight
What to Do:
- Cut out the circle. Cut along the black line from the edge of the circle to the center.
- Lay the circle on a piece of corrugated cardboard. Use the pencil to poke holes through the dots on the circle.
- Form a cone by covering the white section with the gray-shaded section. Paper-clip the cone together.
- Stand in the middle of a dark room and hold the cone with the pointed end up. Hold the flashlight about six inches below the cone and aim the beam at the cone's center. Now look up. You'll see Capricorn (a goat), Aquila (an eagle), and Cygnus (a swan). Can you find the constellations outside, too?
