Container Gardening for Kids

by Ellen Talmage (Sterling, 1996)
Every gourmet chef knows that fresh herbs are zee key to a fantastique meal. Even if you don’t have a huge yard, you can grow your own basil, chive, and mint—in a bag of potting soil!
Zis book is full of creative ways to grow fresh, sweet-smelling plants. Although I prefer zee herbs and veggies, I also loved zee tips on how to grow a butterfly garden, a mini cactus, and beautiful spring bulbs like narcissus or hyacinths. You can use old toys, hollow pumpkins, or even stinky shoes as containers for your beautiful plants. There eez even a section on growing mushrooms like moi. (But don’t expect them to cook for you!)
Budding chefs will learn how to grow a monster tomato, a stick of lettuce, and edible flowers. Zis is a wonderful way to get ready for spring, non?
