The Wind in the Willows Country Cookbook

by Arabella Boxer
Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1983

I am so ‘appy eet eez almost spring—zee most wonderful season of zee year! I will make fresh-squeezed lemonade and ‘omemade ice cream for zee warm spring nights! And we buggies will pack picnics of yummy fruit and petit sandwiches!

But first, mis amis, we must endure zee wild, windy weather of March. Well, c’est la vie—zat is life. At least zis cookbook will keep me busy until zee warm weather arrives. Zee recipes are inspired by zee beloved classic Wind in the Willows, a book about zee adventures of a toad, a badger, a rat, and a mole who live together in zee Wild Wood (sounds like us buggies, non?).

Zee cookbook ‘as a recipe for every occasion. I can’t wait to try zee riverside sandwiches—fantastique for a picnic by zee river!
