Leonardo's Monster

Did you shiver in your boots when you read “Monster Zoo” in this month’s Spider? Well, you might want to warn your boots that more shivers are on the way—the book Leonardo's Monster is based on a true story!
Leonardo da Vinci was a genius, even as a little boy. He was a great mathematician, he was amazing at science, and he even wrote his own songs! But Leonardo’s true talent was art, and he was so good that all his friends and relatives begged him to draw for them. One man asked him to paint something really cool on his shield.
And so Leonardo decided to paint the most horrifying, terrifying, downright petrifying monster that ever lived! He collected all sorts of insects and used them for inspiration. (Insects can be pretty scary when you look closely! Ever seen Spider’s hair?) To make sure that his monster was scary enough, Leonardo played a sneaky trick on his father that would make even Spider jealous!
Sadly, Leonardo’s amazing monster shield has been lost forever, but if you use your imagination, maybe you can create a terrifyingly awesome monster shield of your own! Just please don't make the monster come to life—my poor boots can't handle any more shivers!
