Whenever I meet a dog, it gets a funny gleam in its eye. I know that gleam. I get it myself whenever Miro sets a piping hot, moldy-green-cheese pizza in front of me. It's a gleam that says, "YOU LOOK DELICIOUS, FEED ME NOW, MUNCH-MUNCH-MUNCH!" YIPES!!!!
But despite my fear of becoming a doggie treat, I must say that this canine poetry collection actually makes dogs seem O.K. The book's illustrations are totally fun and crazy, which suits THIS wacky spider just fine. And you get to learn all about different breeds and colors of dogs—some are itty-bitty, and some are GINORMOUS. My favorite dog is Pierre. His human likes to ride his bike, and Pierre gets to ride along in his backpack!
If I had a friend-dog, I would want him to do all the exciting things that these dogs do. They snuggle with stuffed animals, chase seagulls, and bite at bubbles—they're always playing and going on adventures! H'm, maybe dogs aren't all bad. But if I ever play with one, I'm going to make him sign a friend contract and then triple-pinky-paw-swear not to chow me down. Like Ophelia always says, trust must be earned. . . .
