What's Everybuggy Reading: Spider

Big Rig Bugs

by Kurt Cyrus
Walker & Company, 2010

What happens when a litterbug construction worker tosses his stinky sandwich into the underbrush? Big rig bugs to the rescue! Weevils, ants, and beetles come out in full force to clear away the mess. They lift it, pack it into balls, and fly it away. By the end of the book, the stinky sandwich is all gone!

Are you the kind of Spider-ling who likes to play with dump trucks, mini racecars, and tractors? If so, you’ll love the illustrations in this book, because the bugs look just like shiny machines. The easy rhymes are perfect if you’re learning to read on your own, or if you want to memorize the entire book so that you look like the coolest Spider—er, kid—in town.

Unluckily for me, Miro made sardine sandwiches for lunch. (YUCK! BLEAGH! ICK!) But luckily for me, I know how to get out of this one. I’m going to throw the sandwich into the yard and spy on the big rig bugs that clean it up!
