What's Everybuggy Reading: Spider

Sneaky Weasel

by Hannah Shaw
Alfred A. Knopf, 2008

Tricking your friends can be fun every now and then (who am I kidding, it ROCKS)—but it’s only fun while they’re still around! In Sneaky Weasel, our pal Weasel may have carried his jokes a bit too far. Plus, he thinks he’s better than everyone. Would you want to go to his party? Neither would I. And I love tricksters (as long as they’re not tricking me)!

When Weasel invites all his friends to a party, he's super excited to show off how rich and fancy he is. He and his caviar-eating cat get all dressed up for the party—but not a single animal friend comes over! I guess he’s just lucky they didn’t show up with roaring lions like Betty Small did in "Lion at School" (check it out in this month's Spider)!

Weasel takes a long look at his bullying self and realizes that maybe he’s been too sneaky and stuck up. Can he make it up to his former friends? I won’t give the ending away—but BELIEVE ME, I know how hard it is to stop being a trickster! (Speaking of outstanding trickster pranks, did you see my INCREDIBLE mustache disguise in this month's issue? How did Sam recognize me?!)
