Spider's Mailbox

a poem about reading

Here is a poem I wrote about reading:

Reading, reading

Lots of fun.

Reading, reading

Never done.

When you read,

you learn to soar

higher than a dinosaur.

Mixing words,

pouring in magic.

Stories can be fun, and even tragic.

Telling stories

with talking creatures. reading has so many features.

Learning more

each time you soar.

Rhythm and rhyme

Tales of fairies

in many prairies.

Some of adventure and crime.

You can read them over and over

noticing new things every time.

When I think I'm done,

there's another one.

Reading is a world of adventure

when you've read one cover to cover.

You'll start to think a new way,

Reading books with different outlooks.

Reading every day

fills me with pride,

with every book, with every stride.

There's no book you'll want to hide.

Reading poems

and masterpieces,

your reading skill

always increases.

When reading, you're learning.

Each page you'll be turning.

Reading, reading, never done.

Reading reading, lots of fun.
