Surprising Seeds
Miro calls these Surprising Seeds because unlike most salty roasted pumpkin seeds, these are a little bit sweet and spicy.
What You'll Need:
1 cup pumpkin seeds (about how much you will find in one large pumpkin)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
shallow baking sheet, covered with nonstick foil or coated with a thin layer of oil
What to Do:
1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F*.
2. Rinse the seeds with water to remove the pumpkin pulp and separate them.
3. Pat dry with paper towels and put in a bowl.
4. Toss the seeds with the oil, sugar, and spices.
5. Spread the seeds in an even layer on the baking sheet.
6. Bake the seeds for 45 to 60 minutes, turning them from time to time to prevent burning, until they are browned and crunchy.*
*Make sure to have an adult help you with the hot oven.
