The Mushroom Children (October Cover)

There once were two elves that had just moved to their new home: the bottom of a tree next to a mushroom field. Then they realized that the queen fairy, Melinda, had sent them there.

One day they got a visit from her. She said, “You are living next to a mushroom field, but those are not actually mushrooms. They are mushroom-children.”

“What are mushroom-children?” they asked.

She answered, “They are mushrooms with a spirit inside them, and some creatures can see their faces. Your job is to take care of them.” Then she left the tree.

Later that day, they saw that there was a boar who was trying to steal the mushroom-children, but they took their spears and threw them at him so he got scared and ran away.
