Buggy New Year's Fai Chun!

What You'll Need:

  • Printer
  • One sheet of yellow printing paper or one sheet of yellow construction paper
  • One sheet of red or white printing paper
  • Fai Chun symbol:
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Your favorite New Year’s buggy greeting: Sam, Sonya, Miro, Thisle, or Ophelia (psst—find Spider's message in our January 2012 issue!)
  • Yarn
What to Do:

  1. Print the Fai Chun symbol on yellow printing paper. If you’re using yellow construction paper, print out the symbol on regular white printing paper, then trace the pattern (including the dotted lines) onto the construction paper.
  2. Fold the symbol in half along the dotted line to make a triangle, with symbol facing outward.
  3. Cut out the symbol around the solid black lines (do NOT cut the dotted fold line). Unfold to see the complete symbol.
  4. Print your favorite New Year’s buggy greeting on either red or white printing paper, then cut out the square along the solid black lines.
  5. Glue your Fai Chun symbol to the blank side of the square, making sure to center it (the pointed top of the symbol should face the hole-punch on your square).
  6. Punch a hole in the corner of the square where indicated. Thread yarn through the hole and tie it off.
