Build a Time Capsule
Here's a fun activity you can do to preserve your favorite memories!
What You'll Need:
- A waterproof container or a large shoebox
- Your completed 2010 Spider Time-Freeze form (see What to Do, below)
- Two sheets of paper and a pencil, pen, or crayon
- One plastic gallon-sized sandwich bag that will zip or seal closed
- Your favorite photos, letters, and/or any other items you want to include
What to Do:
- To bury your capsule outside, you'll need a sturdy, waterproof container (usually made of plastic) that will protect your important items from weather damage. If you decide to hide your capsule indoors, you can use a large shoebox.
- Print out the Time Freeze PDF—it's that funny-looking blinking thing at the top of the page. Fill in the blanks to create your very own Spider 2010 Time-Freeze.
- On your first sheet of paper, trace your handprint; on your second sheet of paper, trace your footprint.
- Place your Time-Freeze sheet, handprint, footprint, favorite photos, letters, and anything else you want to include in your plastic sandwich bag; close the bag.
- Put the plastic bag into your time capsule and tightly seal the container. (If you're using a shoebox, you can tape or rubber-band the top of the box to the sides for extra security.)
- Bury or hide your time capsule. Don't forget to write down its location so that you can find it in the future!
