Thank-You Notes
Getting thank-you notes makes people feel loved and appreciated. Follow our tips for writing the perfect thank-you note!
What You'll Need:
-Paper or stationery (Print some of ours! See Step 1, below.)
-Something to write with
-Crayons, markers, etc. for decoration (optional)
What to Do:
- Print some cool stationery: Buggy Thank-you Note or Designer Thank-you Note.
First, fold paper in half horizontally so the "Thank You" text is on the outside. Then fold paper in half vertically so the "Thank You" text becomes the front of the card. Presto!
- Make the first line of your letter a greeting. For example, "Dear Grandma," "Hi Aunt Jamie," etc.
- After the greeting write your message. It can be one
sentence or a few sentences, depending on what you want to say. An easy way to start your message is "Thank you for [the name of the gift.]" - Now think about how you will use the gift and tell the person about it. ("I love the art kit. I can't wait to paint a picture of you.") Or maybe you loved it so much you've used it already! ("I love the book. I have already read the first chapter.") Be as specific as possible!
- After your message comes the "closing." This is where you will say good-bye and sign your name. For a thank-you letter, some common closings are: "Love, [your name]"; "Thank you, [your name]"; "Sincerely, [your name]."
- If you'd like, you can decorate your letter to make it more personal.
- With an adult's help, mail or hand-deliver your letter to show your thanks!
